Altos de Chavón is located within the Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in La Romana, Dominican Republic. Perched on a hill overlooking the Chavón River, this Mediterranean-style village is an integral part of the resort and serves as its cultural and artistic center. Just a short drive from the main hotel and residential areas of Casa de Campo, Altos de Chavón is easily accessible to visitors, guests and homeowners, offering a unique historical and entertainment experience within the resort.

Altos de Chavón was developed in the late 1970s as a project by Central Romana Corporation, the company that also owns and operates Casa de Campo. It was conceived as a cultural and artistic landmark for the resort and the Dominican Republic. The village was designed by Italian architect Roberto Coppa and Dominican architect José Antonio Caro under the vision of Charles Bluhdorn, the then-chairman of Gulf+Western, which controlled Central Romana at the time.

Built using stone from the region, much of which was sourced from the same quarries used to construct the resort, the village was handcrafted by local artisans, further solidifying its connection to the surrounding community. Today, Altos de Chavón remains a key national attraction, offering residents and visitors a rich blend of history, culture, and entertainment. It houses:

The St. Stanislaus Church, a popular wedding venue with historical ties to Pope John Paul II.

The 5,000-seat Amphitheater, which has hosted world-famous artists such as Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Michael Bubble and Juan Luis Guerra.

The Archaeological Regional Museum, showcasing Taíno artifacts and the island’s indigenous heritage.

Numerous Restaurants, Cafes, Boutiques and Shops.

Altos de Chavón is not just an artistic and cultural center but also a prime social gathering spot for Casa de Campo. With fine dining options, boutiques, and breathtaking views of the Chavón River, it serves as an iconic symbol of the resort’s luxury lifestyle while maintaining strong ties to the Dominican Republic’s cultural heritage.
