The expansion of La Romana Cruise Terminal, of the Central Romana, at a cost of more than US$15 million will allow it to receive the largest cruise ships in the world, said Luis Emilio Rodríguez, director of the port.
“We made this significant investment with the objective of taking the port’s operational capacity to another level, that of being able to host the largest cruise ships in the world in our port of La Romana,” said Rodríguez.
He highlighted that with this investment they provided the maritime part with the necessary conditions to dock cruise ships of the Odyssey of the Seas class, one of the largest and most modern ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet.
The port director pointed out that this new stage of the port of La Romana corresponds with the Government’s vision, which is also shared by Central Romana, of turning the Dominican Republic into a “hub” for cruise ships in the Caribbean.
He said that the company has a firm commitment to the advancement of the country’s tourism sector, and reported that in the first quarter of 2023 the new facilities and spa of the Casa de Campo hotel will be inaugurated, with an investment of US$90 million.
