In that sense, MSC Cruises indicates that this addition marks the first time the line has deployed a ship in the Southern Caribbean during the summer season, and also the first time it has offered two ships during the winter season, giving guests even more options to discover the captivating destinations of this impressive region year-round.

In this regard, Infotur Dominicano spoke with Andrés Fernández, Commercial Director of the Port of La Romana, about what this decision by MSC Cruises represents for La Romana and the country. He responded as follows: “MSC Cruise’s announcement to establish MSC Opera with a permanent base in the Port of La Romana marks a historic milestone for the destination, consolidating its leading position as a mother port in the Caribbean. This annual operation will bring a steady flow of visitors, boosting the local economy, strengthening tourism, and generating new employment and development opportunities. The weekly inclusion of Catalina Island on the route also strengthens the destination’s comprehensive offering.
